Decision on the Commercialization of Wind Power Generation
in Sakata City, Yamagata Prefecture
Cn.Cosmo Oil Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Capital: 51.9 billion yen; President: Yaichi Kimura) has decided on the commercialization of wind power generation in the harbor area of Sakata City, Yamagata Prefecture.
This enterprise originated from a wind power generation project (up to 2,000 kW station capacity) for the 2003 fiscal year that was offered to us by Tohoku Electric Power Co., Inc.
A brief outline follows.
1. Enterprise summary
Name of electric power plant: Cosmo Oil Sakata Wind-Power Plant
Power plant site: 2-chome, Ohama, Sakata-shi, Yamagata
Power output: 1,500 kW (1,500 kW x 1 generator)
Annual amount of electric power generated: approximately 3,800,000 kWh
Annual amount of CO2 cuts: approximately 1,200 t – CO2
Business method: selling all electric power generated to Tohoku Electric Power Co., Inc.
The new energy based electricity will be sold separately to comply with RPS guidelines.
2. Overview of wind power facilities
Model: a product of Ebara-Pfleiderer Wind Power Corp.
Performance specifications:
cut-in wind speed: approximately 3.5 m/s
cut-out wind speed: 25.0 m/s
rated wind speed: 12.0 m/s
output control: pitch control, variable speed control
3. Upcoming schedule
Early August 2004: construction commencement
Around December 2004: scheduled for commercial operation
