Cosmo Oil is aiming at a sustainable society, reducing load on the environment in all its undertakings, and making various efforts to realize the goal of a comprehensive energy corporation that can supply energy that is both friendly to the earth and people. It also carries out activities to pass on the importance of the environment to children, who are the future, as well as engages in global environmental restoration/preservation activities that go beyond its business areas.
In the “ Cosmo Oil Booth ” set up in the “ NGO Global Village ” Center House, we introduce the “ Zero Flare Project, ” an unprecedented crude oil production effort along with three representative projects from the “ Living With Our Planet ” Project, aiming for global environment preservation, as well as exhibiting items with which you can experience the actual sites of the “ Living With Our Planet ” Project.

1.Introducing the “ Zero Flare Project ”

The “ Zero Flare Project ” is a project aiming at decreasing emissions of SOx (sulfur oxide) and CO2 to “ zero ” by re-injecting conventionally incinerated associated gases from producing crude oil back into the original oil layers with a large compressor.

2.Tropical rain forest preservation project

In this “ Living With Our Planet ” Project, we are supporting the transition from “ slash and burn agriculture ” to “ settled cyclical organic agriculture ” in Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands as an effort leading to the preservation of tropical rain forests. 3.Support project for South Pacific countries

In this “ Living With Our Planet ” Project we are performing support activities for the Republic of Kiribati, which is troubled with rising sea levels due to global warming.On Christmas Island, we are supporting the installation of rainwater storage tanks for utilizing precipitation as drinking water, and the production of natural salt. 4.Environmental school support Project

In the “ Environmental school support Project, ” one of the “ Living With Our Planet ” Projects, we are holding “ environmental schools ” in various places throughout Japan with the purpose of “ developing ‘ environmental messengers ’ that can take action on behalf of the environment and be environmental messengers. ” [Activity area] Mt.
